Aroma Diagnostics in Moscow: Discover Your Signature Scent
Learn how personalized fragrance selection works, who benefits most, and what I've observed in clients' reactions over six years of professional practice.
Every time I have a preliminary conversation with a client, it turns out to be roughly the same thing. A person feels that something in their life is off, they're searching for support, but they don't know where to start. Often they come to me with a request about scent: they want to find "their" aroma, one that will support them. It sounds simple, but there's usually a deeper question behind it.
In reality, people come not so much for a bottle of oil as for the opportunity to understand themselves. In this case, aroma becomes a tool for self-discovery. Through our reaction to scents, we can see what attracts us, what repels us, what sparks curiosity. It's like a dialogue with our own body and emotions.
In my work with aromatherapy, I've noticed: if you listen carefully to what a person chooses, which scents attract them, you can understand a lot about their state and needs here and now. This isn't fortune-telling or medical assessment in the clinical sense. It's simply honest self-observation through the lens of aromatic sensations.
Why people come to me with questions about fragrance
People come to me from different starting points. Some already know that scents affect their state, but don't understand how to choose the right one for themselves. Some have heard about essential oils but think it's either marketing or something very specialized. And some are simply open to new experiences and want to try something that doesn't require special preparation.
I often see people who bought a set of oils online, tried a couple, and nothing happened. Or the opposite, something did happen, but it's unclear what and why. They feel that the smell somehow affects them, but can't articulate exactly how and in what direction. This very "I can't figure it out" is what brings them to a session.
Sometimes it also happens that a person knows something about themselves but doesn't know how to name it or work with it. They're looking for a tool that suits them personally. Not a universal list from the internet, but something selected based on their reactions here and now.
My job is to sort out this uncertainty. Through direct testing. Without theories, without what "should be effective." You simply smell, I observe, we look at the result together, and decide what to do next.
What happens during an aroma diagnostic session
During the session, I'll invite you into a comfortable room with a cozy armchair and offer you a testing experience. I have a collection of 30+ essential oils. You'll bring each bottle to your nose and tell me your first impression. No preparation needed; just an honest reaction. You like it, you don't like it, neutral, wow, really don't like it. That's it.
During testing, I categorize the oils based on your responses. At the same time, I listen to how you talk about the scents. Often people automatically mention not just the sensation, but also where they would use this smell; how they would apply it. That's already information. I'll ask clarifying questions and note the patterns.
After testing, we review the results together. I'll tell you which categories emerged, which scents you selected, and how they can be used in everyday life. Based on what you chose, I'll create a personal fragrance for you. It's simply a reflection of your preferences at this moment. At the end of the session, you'll receive a 5ml bottle of your finished aroma that you can use at home.
The session lasts from 60 to 90 minutes depending on how deeply you want to explore. No aromatherapy experience required. If you live in another city, the session can be conducted online; I'll send a sample set in advance. To book, contact Telegram @Aromara_ru.
What reactions occur and what they reveal
At the session, I propose testing around thirty essential oils. You bring each bottle to your nose and give your first reaction: like it, don't like it, wow, or really don't like it. No analysis during testing. Just the sensations that arise at that moment.
How you react to different scents can be quite unexpected. For example, a smell that logically should appeal to you triggers rejection. Or the opposite: a completely inconspicuous aroma suddenly provokes such a reaction that you immediately single it out. These reactions are very individual. For one person, orange evokes delight, for another, irritation. For some, coniferous scents create a feeling of invigoration, while for others it's just the smell of the forest, and that's it.
After testing, we analyze which groups of scents received the most "wow" from you, which ones you skipped, which ones you rejected. People are often surprised by what they choose: it turns out their selection differs greatly from what they bought before or what they think should appeal to them. This moment is interesting. Sometimes there's a certain logic to the choice, sometimes the selection seems contradictory even to the person themselves.
Then I give recommendations for use. Not because some aroma is universal for everyone, but because you've already signaled through your reaction: this is interesting, this resonates with me right now. And it makes sense to work with this further. As a result of the session, you receive a personal five-milliliter bottle with your personalized aroma blend. Then you decide for yourself how to use it.
Fragrance as a mirror of your state
When I conduct a session, I often notice one consistent pattern. A person approaches a set of fragrance samples with one mood, but their reactions change during the testing process. Someone suddenly recoils from a scent that "logically" should have appealed to them. Someone unexpectedly becomes captivated by a bottle that seemed uninteresting just seconds before. This is no coincidence. Our fragrance preferences are connected to what is happening within us right here and now. They reflect our current state and what our system resonates with in this exact moment.
Over years of practice, I've noticed that the same person chooses different fragrances in different situations. Someone who reaches for fresh, light scents during a calm period may turn to deep, enveloping fragrances during a time of stress. This simply shows that our body knows what it needs in any given moment. And scent becomes the language through which this is expressed.
Therefore, the results of an aroma-diagnostic session are not a final verdict, but a snapshot of the moment. A mirror in which the current picture is visible. When we analyze your reactions and record which fragrances draw you in, we create a personal dictionary together. You discover which scents resonate with your specific system. And then you decide for yourself how to use this knowledge in your everyday life.
How to apply the results in your life
After the session, you'll have a list of scents that triggered a strong reaction. This isn't instructions on what to smell for depression or insomnia. It's more like a map: these scents interest me, these repel me, these I'll continue exploring. The main thing is that you now have information about your preferences that you can use practically.
The personal bottle you receive as a result can be used however you like. Carry it with you and inhale it when you need a brief sensory break. Add it to a diffuser at home. Spray it in your workspace. Use it in the bath. Everyone finds their own way. I know someone who simply keeps an open bottle on her desk while she works. For her, it's about the environment, about having a space around her that she likes.
Sometimes people decide after a session that they want to expand their palette. They tested thirty oils, two were perfect, but they want to understand what else exists in that scent family. Or they understood how different compositions work and wanted to create something of their own. That's normal. The aroma world is huge, and aroma diagnostics simply gives you a point of entry.
The main rule: the results are about you now, in this moment. The scents that attract you can change. And that's good. It means you're living, that things are happening. The results don't become outdated, but it's always useful to check in with yourself again periodically. Resource fragrance: recording and details
The individual session is called "Resource Scent." It involves testing 30+ essential oils sorted into categories: like, dislike, wow, really dislike. It sounds simple, but this layout reveals your entire preference map. Next, we analyze your reactions, discuss how to use oils in everyday life, and as a result, you receive a personal 5 ml bottle of custom scent. The session lasts 60–90 minutes and costs from 5,500 rubles.
No aromatherapy experience is required. Come with zero preparation. The only condition: if a scent seems unpleasant, be honest about it. There is no "right" or "wrong" here. Your reaction is interesting and informative regardless. By the way, sometimes people worry that something psychological or philosophical will happen during the session. It won't. We simply smell and talk. You yourself see the patterns in your choices.
An online version is also available. I send a sample set in advance, you receive the package at home, and the session takes place via video call. Terms are negotiated individually, write to me on Telegram @Aromara_ru. You can also clarify the schedule and book a session at the Moscow studio or arrange a home visit. I usually respond within a day.
